State Grants for Town of Oshkosh Utilities

A state grant will help fund a new sewer and water system in the Town of Oshkosh. Winnebago Mental Health Institute has served as the utility for about two-dozen property owners near the facility for over 70 years, but the state wants to get out of that business. The town, which does not have its own utilities, is now working with the state on a solution.

A $50,000 block grant has been approved to plan and design the system, and the town is likely to seek additional grants to pay for actual construction – which could be around $20,000 per property. A new sanitary district may also be created and could contract with the City of Oshkosh for sewer and water services.
