State Patrol Releases Information on FDL County Deputy-Involved Crash

The State Patrol is releasing the names of those involved in
a crash between a squad car and another vehicle just before noon on Monday. A
Ford Taurus driven by Fond du Lac
County
Sheriff’s
Detective Pete Vergos was following a dump truck northbound on Lakeshore Drive,
with a Jeep Wrangler coming southbound.

The dump truck turned left into a
driveway – the Jeep passed going southbound as Vergos attempted to make a left
turn into a different driveway. The Jeep then struck the squad on the front,
right side.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as Jeffery Kirsch of Fond du
Lac, and Detective Ryan Murphy – who was a passenger in the squad – were taken
to St. Agnes
Hospital
, where they were treated and
released. Vergos was taken by Flight for Life to ThedaCare
Regional Medical
Center in Neenah for serious injuries, and was released
from the hospital on Tuesday.

State Patrol investigators also determined that
the squad failed to yield right-of-way while making the left hand turn, and
Vergos will be cited for that.
