State Requests Supreme Court Denial on Dassey Appeal

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is issuing an argument asking the U.S. Supreme Court to deny Brendan Dassey’s request for an appeal hearing.

Back in February, attorneys filed a petition for the high court to review an appeals court decision that upheld his conviction. A lower court magistrate argued Dassey’s confession was coerced. He and his uncle, Steven Avery, are serving life sentences for the murder of Teresa Halbach after her disappearance in 2005. It is currently unclear whether the Supreme Court will consider the case.
