State Senate Passes Converter Bill

The State Senate has passed a bill that would add catalytic converters from cars to a list of items that need extra documentation to sell to scrap dealers. The measure is an effort to try and stem organized groups from stealing those devices from cars. State Senator Lena Taylor says it’s a common-sense measure.

“This is not an anti-business bill. This is an anti-‘Takin’ what ain’t yours’ bill, okay? That’s what it is.”

Other items already on the list for scrap dealers include manhole covers, beer kegs, metal grave markers and milk crates.
