State Supreme Court Candidate Talks About Domestic Violence

A Wisconsin State Supreme Court candidate says domestic violence and abuse touches may different aspects of the court system. Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Rebecca Dallet says she teaches judges all over the country about how to address domestic violence cases and they come up in all kind of cases in courtrooms. She says it comes up,” not just in our domestic violence cases, but our child support cases, our family cases, civil cases, there really, those dynamics really pervade in all kinds of cases in our courtrooms.”  Dallet says judges need to be respectful to the victim’s right to say what she wants to say, when she’s ready to say it, and also to look out for their safety.
