State Supreme Court Rules On Ballot Drop Boxes

Absentee ballot drop boxes will be allowed for the spring primary election, following a ruling from the state Supreme Court.

Justice Brian Hagedorn sided with the liberal justices on the court on Friday, denying a request for an emergency ruling against an appeals court order that allowed the drop boxes to be used.

Hagedorn says any change in the elections at this point ahead of the primary would be confusing for voters.

But the court’s conservative justices bristled at the ruling, with Justice Rebecca Bradley calling Hagedorn’s opinion “astonishing”, and that Hagedorn’s statement on confusing voters was wrong because there’s “always an impending election.”
