State Unemployment Rate Up for December, Stays Below National Average

Wisconsin’s unemployment rate finished 2019 below the
national unemployment rate, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor
Statistics last week. Preliminary data for the month of December shows the
state unemployment rate rose a tenth of a percent to 3.4 percent, but stayed a
tenth of a percent below the national rate of 3.5 percent. Year-to-year, the
state unemployment rate is up four-tenths of a percent from December of 2018,
while the national rate is down four-tenths of a percent over the same period.
