Statewide Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday

More
than 277 law enforcement agencies across the state will be participating in
Drug Take Back Day across the state this Saturday.  Wisconsinites are encouraged to dispose of
unwanted and unused medications at Drug Take Back and drug disposal locations.

While
there is no major drug drop collection scheduled in Fond du Lac County this
weekend – residents can find a drug drop box in several different locations
around the county for use year-round. Police Departments in Fond du Lac, North
Fond du Lac, Rosendale, Ripon, Brandon, Campbellsport, Oakfield and Waupun have
drop boxes, along with St. Agnes Hospital, Ripon Medical Center and Waupun
Memorial Hospital. The Hayat Pharmacy in Campbellsport and Walgreens at Johnson
& Main in Fond du Lac also have dropoff locations.

It
is important to know that if you are going to drop off solid forms of
medication such as pills or capsules, to remove them from their plastic
container. Either dump the pills directly into the drop off bin or put them is
a plastic sealable bag. Liquid medications will also be accepted during this
initiative. However, they must be in their original packaging.

While
this event focuses on safely disposing unwanted drugs and medication, there are
still some items that will not be accepted at these drop off locations. These
include: Illegal drugs, needles/sharps, acids, aerosol cans, anything
containing a bodily fluid or blood, personal care products, household hazardous
waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas), mercury thermometers, or vape pens. All
medication disposed must be from a household and not generated from businesses.
