Steinbarth Selected To New Position, New Principal Search Begins

The Fond du Lac School District announced Wednesday (2/2/2022) that Matt Steinbarth will be recommended to the Board of Education as the Chief of Schools and Educational Accountability starting in the 2022-23 school year.

This promotion will be presented to the Board of Education for consideration at their February 14, 2022, meeting. Steinbarth will continue to serve as Principal of Fond du Lac High School through the school year and will begin his new position on July 1, 2022.

The District will begin a search for the next Principal of Fond du Lac High School in the coming weeks.

“I am pleased to recommend Mr. Steinbarth as Chief of Schools and Educational Accountability,” said Dr. Jeffrey Fleig, Superintendent of the Fond du Lac School District. “Mr. Steinbarth is a collaborative leader who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the schools as well as oversee the school transformation process as we start to improve student achievement.”

Steinbarth has served as the Principal of Fond du Lac High School since 2017. Steinbarth pursued Educational Leadership courses at Concordia University to earn Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction, and Principal licensure. He received a Master of Arts in Education from Marian University and a bachelor’s degree with an Elementary Education major and Mathematics minor from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.

In 1999, Steinbarth began his educational career in the Fond du Lac School District as a long-term substitute teacher for fifth grade at Parkside Elementary School. In 2000, he joined Woodworth Middle School as an eighth grade math teacher and was promoted to Assistant Principal of the school in 2013. He then served as the Principal of Lakeshore Elementary School until becoming Principal of Fond du Lac High School in 2017.
