Sturgeon Spawning Run Underway

It’s a few weeks late
in getting underway, but DNR Sturgeon Biologist Ryan Koenigs says the sturgeon spawning
run on the Wolf River began over the weekend. Koenigs
says fish began spawning at the Sturgeon Trail in New London late Saturday night. DNR crews
were out tagging fish at that location Sunday afternoon. Koenigs says other
locations along the river were checked to see if fish were fish were spawning,
but none were found. He adds that fish should begin spawning at locations like
Bamboo Bend in Shiocton within the next day or two.
