Sunday Evening Crash Takes The Lives Of Two

A Sunday evening crash claims the life of two, and sends three others to the hospital. The accident occurred at 9:14 p.m. Sunday evening, in the northbound lane I-41 near Townline Road. Callers reported a one-vehicle crash, with multiple injuries. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived with First Responders and immediately began CPR on a 22-year old Appleton man and a 49-old man from Georgia, but were unsuccessful. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other males and a female were transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, but no further details regarding their injuries were available. According to Deputies investigating the scene, the SUV was heading north on I-41 when it began to drift off the roadway. As it made its way back to the highway, the SUV rolled over numerous times before landing back on the highway. The driver of the SUV was the only one wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assistance at the scene included the Fond du Lac PD, Fond du Lac Paramedics, Fond du Lac County Highway Department, North Fond du Lac PD, Oshkosh Paramedics, The Wisconsin State Patrol and the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office. The northbound lanes of I-41 were closed for almost 5 hours between CTH OO and CTH N.
