Sunday High Speed Chase On I-41

Authorities say a 28-year old Menasha woman led police on a 22-mile high speed chase through three counties on Sunday evening.

Neenah Police received a call around 4:25 pm Sunday for a stolen GMC pickup truck from an area campground. The truck sideswiped another vehicle on Interstate 41 near Oshkosh, then continued into Fond du Lac County where State Patrol officers and Sheriff’s deputies tried multiple times to stop the truck by deflating its tires. The chase reached speeds of 100 miles per hour down I-41 as it entered Dodge County, where deputies there tried again unsuccessfully to deflate the tires. Authorities say one tire did disintegrate for unknown reasons and the truck continued another several miles at 80 mph on its rims. The truck then left the highway, hit a sign and spun out of control across the southbound lanes. The driver, Alecia Swick, was flown to an Oconomowoc hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Swick had two warrants from two counties. The incident remains under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
