Supreme Court Allows Republicans To Keep Lawyers, For Now

Republicans drawing Wisconsin’s next political map are allowed to keep working with their own lawyers, for now.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled this week that lawmakers don’t have to cut ties with the lawyers they’ve hired to help with redistricting. Two lower-court judges said Republicans don’t have the power to hire outside attorneys for the remap.

The high-court ruling is temporary. Justices say they’ll make a final decision in a couple of months.
