Suspect in Fox River Mall Shooting In Custody

The teenager suspected of killing one person and injuring another in a shooting at the Fox River Mall near Appleton Sunday is in custody.

Grand Chute Police say 17-year-old Dezman Ellis was arrested Thursday afternoon without incident by a U.S. Marshals Task Force in Des Moines, Iowa.

A press release says the department enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals earlier this week, and had developed information that Ellis was likely headed out of the state. After what was called an “exhaustive, around-the-clock investigation”, Ellis was taken into custody at a home in Iowa.

Ellis is being charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. Authorities say Ellis shot and killed 19-year-old Jovanni Frausto in the mall food court after an argument about a girl. A second person who was shot in the incident was treated at a hospital and released.
