Taxpayers Spend Over $40k on Legislator Travel

Wisconsin taxpayers have spent almost $41,000 to send state senators on out of state trips since 2015. That includes trips to President Trump’s first state of the union address. Documents reportedly show the three largest payouts went to Democratic Senator Fred Risser – who was reimbursed nearly $4,000 dollars for attending a Uniform Law Commission conference in Vermont in 2016 – another $3,000 for a conference in San Diego a year later – and just over $3,000 again for a 2015 meeting in Seattle. Taxpayers have also spent over $98,000 on state Assembly members travel since 2015.
