Theft From Walmart Leads To Pursuit And Arrest

A theft of cash leads to yet another pursuit and an arrest. FDL County Communications Center received a call just before 8:35 p.m. Tuesday night, for a report that a male suspect had taken cash from the register at Walmart in Fond du Lac.

The suspect fled south from Walmart with Fond du Lac PD locating the vehicle in the area and attempting to stop it. The suspect continued south on Rolling Meadows Dr. at a high rate of speed.  Fond du Lac PD terminated their pursuit, allowing Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers and Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office to locate the vehicle and attempting to stop it again on Interstate 41 near Lost Arrow Rd.  

The suspect failed to stop and a second pursuit occurred. The Sheriff’s Office was able to deploy stop sticks, which were successful with the vehicle disabled in the area of I-41 and CTH-Y. The driver and lone occupant, a 60-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody without incident.  He is facing charges of Felony Eluding. City of Fond du Lac Police are completing their investigation in regards to the robbery.

The pursuit lasted a distance of 6 miles. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol during the incident. There were no injuries reported.
