Theresa Dairy Company Among Recipients of Dairy Program Grants

Ten dairy companies in the state, including one located in
Theresa, have been named recipients of Dairy Processor Grants through a program
from the Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection. A total of
14 applications were received by DATCP, and the 10 recipients were chosen out
of a competitive review process. Widmer’s Cheese Cellars of Theresa received a $27,500
grant from the program. A news release from DATCP says that Widmers plans on
using the money “to develop a new brick curd-cutting device and develop new
cheese packaging.” Widmer’s also is looking to add increased automation to
their current brick cheesemaking process. A total of $200,000 was distributed
between the 10 companies from the grant program.
