25, 61, 3. Those numbers sum up the run that Laconia
Softball has made over the past few seasons. 25-0, their record this year. 61
games, their current winning streak, including back to back undefeated seasons.
Three, the number of consecutive State Championships the Spartans have won,
after their 5-0 triumph over Weyauwega-Fremont in the Division Three title game
at Goodman Diamond in Madison Saturday afternoon. A third straight title earned
in their fourth consecutive trip to the State Tournament.

The Spartans belted out nine hits against the Indians in
their win in Saturday’s title game, led by Caitlyn Tipton, who went 2 for 4 at
the plate with a double and a triple. McKayla Johnson also went 2 for 4 on the
day for the Spartans. Pitcher Kayla Schwebke closed out her career with another
gem in the circle. Schwebke tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing three
hits, one walk and striking out 10. Two of those hits given up by Schwebke were
to the Indians’ leadoff hitter, Cadyn Ehrenberg, who went 2 for 3 in the game.
Catcher Hailey Krause doubled in the fourth inning for the only other hit
allowed by Schwebke. The win was Schwebke’s 22nd shutout of the
year, and she closes her senior year with 309 strikeouts and just four total
runs allowed.
