Time For Flu Shots

Recently state health officials confirmed 19 people tested positive for the flu and 8 people were hospitalized. None of them were from Fond du Lac County. Joyce Mann of the County Health Department says this is why they begin their flu clinics this time of year. There have been no confirmed cases of flu in the county. The CDC feels this is the ideal time to get vaccinated for the flu. Cases of the flu start popping up in November and December and usually peak in January and February. The County Health Department keeps in touch with local labs and health care providers to monitor what they are seeing in terms of illness in the community. Schedules for the health department’s school and public flu immunization clinics and school consent forms are available at the County Health Department’s webpage on the county’s website.
