Toney Adds Endorsements Ahead Of AG Run

Fond du Lac District Attorney and candidate for Wisconsin Attorney General, Eric Toney announced a new list of endorsements from sheriffs across Wisconsin who are backing the frontline prosecutor in his bid to unseat Attorney General Josh Kaul.

26 district attorneys – one third of Wisconsin’s top county prosecutors – have already endorsed Toney’s campaign. Along with the new sheriff endorsements, more than 50 law enforcement officials are supporting his bid for attorney general.

“I’m honored to have the endorsements of sheriffs and law enforcement officials from across Wisconsin who know I’m committed to protecting families and communities throughout the
state,” said District Attorney Toney. “Josh Kaul has put up roadblocks for local law enforcement seeking justice, slashed criminal prosecutor positions at the DOJ, and is too busy playing politics to be Wisconsin’s Top Cop. It’s time for Wisconsin to send a prosecutor, not a politician to be our next Attorney General.”

Ryan Waldschmidt, Fond du Lac County Sheriff, endorsed Toney saying Wisconsin needs an Attorney General who will stand with law enforcement and help us keep families safe and said “District Attorney Eric Toney has proven himself to be a tough but fair prosecutor. He’s stood with law enforcement by working to keep violent criminals behind bars, encouraging programs to curb offenders from repeating, and ensuring deputies and officers have the legal knowledge they need to make sound decisions on the street when lives are on the line.”

The early list of county sheriffs endorsing Toney include:
John Spears, Vernon County Sheriff ; John Matz, Winnebago County Sheriff; Dale Schmidt, Dodge County Sheriff; Matt Joski, Kewaunee County Sheriff; Ryan Waldschmidt, Fond du Lac County Sheriff; Roger Brandner, Columbia County Sheriff; Jerry Sauve, Marinette County Sheriff Todd Skarban; Oconto County Sheriff Martin Schulteis; Washington County Sheriff Tracey Finch, Burnett County Sheriff
Mark Wiegert, Calumet County Sheriff Cory Roeseler, Sheboygan County Sheriff ; Walter Zuehlke, Waushara County Sheriff; Jeff Wolf, LaCrosse County Sheriff; Paul Samardich, Iron County Sheriff ; Wesley Revels, Monroe County Sheriff.

Additionally, former Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Mylan Fink, Gary Pucker and Jim Gilmore are supporting Toney’s bid for attorney general.

District Attorney Toney said: “Our sheriffs and district attorneys help form the backbone of our justice system and they know that to keep our families safe Wisconsin needs an Attorney General who has prosecuted tough cases and stands with law enforcement.”
