Transportation Budget A Bone Of Contention

State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says getting the state’s transportation budget done as part of the regular state budget isn’t as easy as it sounds. Governor Walker last week urged the legislature to “Get it Done” meaning as part of the regular budget. Thiesfeldt says if they are unable to get the transportation budget done as part of the regular budget and it doesn’t get completed before June 30th; the transportation budget would be funded at current levels. He says a colleague in the State Assembly did put together a plan for transportation and a flat tax, but he says it did not get sufficient backing. The state lawmaker from Fond du Lac says the transportation budget is the biggest bone of contention in the state budget and it’s a matter now of seeing which transportation plan might work.
