Truck Driver Charged For Accident On Hwy 23 That Led To Five Injuries

A 59-year-old Merrill man suspected of being under the influence of drugs when he caused an accident on Highway 23 last summer that injured five people has been charged. Randy Miles made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Court this week on charges stemming from the July 15th accident. Miles went over the centerline when he tried to pass another truck with his semi and struck two oncoming vehicles. Among the injured were a 74-year-old Fond du Lac man and a 72-year-old Fond du Lac woman. Blood tests allegedly determined Miles had methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system when the crash occurred. Miles is charged with a felony and four misdemeanors for causing injuries during the crash. He’s free on a $5,000 signature bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on January 8th.
