Truck Plunges Into Lake Winnebago, Driver Safe

At least one person escaped serious injury after a truck broke through the ice Wednesday night on Lake Winnebago.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department received notification Wednesday (2/23/2022) of a 1996 Ford Ranger truck that gone through the ice around 8:00 p.m., and was resting in about 7 feet of water.

The incident occurred about a quarter mile south of Wendt’s and a quarter mile from shore.

Reports were the truck was submerged, but the top of the truck could still be seen.

Deputies were able to make contact with the registered owner of the truck, who was at home and was not injured in the accident.
