Two Arrested for Animal Mistreatment after Throwing Dogs into Retention Pond

Two people have been arrested after an incident in which
dogs were thrown into a retention pond in the City of Fond du Lac Monday evening. Fond du Lac Police were called to the scene in the area of Rolling
Meadows Drive and Hickory Street around 5:19 pm Monday. A news release says a
22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, both from Georgia, were seen throwing
the dogs in the pond “in an aggressive manner”. Witnesses said the man was seen
spinning one of the dogs 360 degrees before throwing it 10 to 20 feet out into
the water. The man was also seen lifting one of the dogs over his head and
throwing it into the pond. Both the man and woman were taken into custody on
charges of Mistreatment of Animals and being Party to the Crime of Mistreatment
of Animals.

The Fond du Lac Humane Society responded to the scene and are caring
for the dogs – which are believed to be around eight to nine weeks old. More
details about the incident will be released when a criminal complaint is
issued.
