Two Arrested For Counterfeit Currency In Beaver Dam

Two people accused of passing bogus $100 bills along the I-94 corridor between Madison and Minnesota have been charged with passing the fake bills in Beaver Dam. 21-year old Hazel Freiberg was charged with 3 counts of Forgery and 2 counts of Attempted Forgery, while 19-year old Kerrie Washington was charged with one count of Forgery and 3 counts of Forgery as a party to a crime and 2 counts of Attempted Forgery as a Party to a crime. All of the counts are felonies. The pair is accused of passing the phony bills at Recheks Food Pride, Wal-Mart and Animart, along with trying to use them at Menards and Shopko. All of the offenses happened this past March, all within a 90-minute period. Each forgery charge carries a maximum 6-year prison sentence, while the attempted forgery counts could add another 3 years. The two are slated to make their initial court appearances next month.
