Two Hurt In Accident On Hwy 151 In Dodge County

One of two Columbus residents that were injured when a semi clipped the back end of their pickup truck late Friday night has died. 68 year old Hans Kubik died at UW-Hospital on Monday. Kubik was driving the pickup on Highway 151 in the Town of Calamus late Friday night when the front of the semi struck the pickup, causing it to go off the road and overturn in a ditch. Both Kubik and his passenger Mary Larson were taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital and later transferred to UW-Hospital.  The semi driver, 53-year-old John Lighthart of Rockford, Illinois was not injured in the crash. Deputies responded to the accident just before midnight Friday.

Dodge County Sheriff’s officials say both vehicles were southbound when the front of the semi struck the pickup causing it to go off the road and overturn in a ditch. Both the driver of the pickup, Hans Kubik, and the his passenger Mary Larson were taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital and were later transferred to the UW-Hospital in Madison. Kubik was flown there by helicopter and Larson was taken by ambulance. The semi driver, 53-year-old John Lighthart of Rockford, Illinois was not injured in the crash.
