Two Injured In Two Vehicle Accident East Of FDL

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say a 39-year-old Jackson man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 23 in the Town of Empire Monday morning. Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says multiple witnesses saw an 18-year-old Sheboygan man passing several vehicles several times as he headed west towards Fond du Lac. He says when he went to pass a semi tractor trailer unit just east of Fond du Lac near County Highway UU he struck an oncoming eastbound vehicle head on. Flight for Life flew the Jackson man in that eastbound vehicle to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. He suffered serious injuries. The Sheboygan man was taken to St. Agnes Hospital with less substantial injuries. Waldschmidt says they are investigating whether the Sheboygan man was impaired. He says they want to make sure he wasn’t under the influence of drugs or some other substance. The man was also cited for unsafe passing. In addition to Sheriff’s deputies, Mt. Calvary Fire and EMS, City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Flight for Life responded to the accident in the Town of Empire.  The accident was reported at 5:48 a.m. The Sheboygan man was later booked into the County Jail on a probation hold. The Sheriff’s Office will be requesting additional criminal charges once the investigation is complete.
