Two New Funds Established By FDL Area Foundation

The Fond du Lac Area Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of two new funds that will benefit Lakeside Park and the beautiful flowers in our city parks.  The Lakeside Park Charitable Fund was established by Fond du Lac Festivals, Inc (FFI) to provide enhancements to Lakeside Park above that which would normally be supported by tax dollars.  “The Fond du Lac Area Foundation applauds Fond du Lac Festivals for establishing this new fund.  Lakeside Park is one of this community’s treasures.  The establishment of this fund is truly a gift to the residents of the Fond du Lac area. Who hasn’t spent wonderful days walking along the shoreline or having a picnic in Lakeside Park,” said Sandi Roehrig, Executive Director of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation.  Fond du Lac Festivals has started this fund to encourage people in the community who appreciate Lakeside Park to also give back to support it.  What are your special memories of your times spent in Lakeside Park?    We all have them.  Now you, too, have the opportunity to donate to ensure that this community treasure will continue and become even better.

Ray Lapierre, FFI President Elect will serve as the Chair of the charitable fund advisory committee. “We are delighted to establish the Lakeside Park Fund. This community jewel has been the venue for Walleye Weekend since its inception. Over the last several years FFI has contributed to Lakeside Park improvements identified by the city to enhance the visitor’s experience. We are hoping that others will consider this an opportunity and have established the fund as a vehicle for this effort.”

The Fond du Lac City Parks Flower Fund was established as a component fund by Fond du Lac County Master Gardener Association for the purpose of providing support to the City of Fond du Lac Flower program and flowerbed improvements.  The money will be used solely for the City of Fond du Lac Parks flower program to purchase grow and maintain the flowers and flowerbeds.  The money will not be used for general city or park maintenance or other expense.  “What a lot of people may not realize is that through Father Benjamin Blied, a wonderful monetary donation was made to the City of Fond du Lac a number of years ago to support the flowers we have all appreciated in our city parks.  Throughout those years, Father Blied’s funds were providing about $2,000-$3,000 annually to add to what was in the City’s budget for flowers.  Unfortunately, Father Blied’s funds are just about gone.   The FDL County Master Gardener Association stepped up to establish a permanent fund so community members could contribute to ensure the continuation of the beautiful flowers we have all enjoyed,” said Roehrig.

The Fond du Lac Area Foundation is the local community foundation that exists to work with donors who want to establish funds or donate to funds that will enhance the quality of life in the Fond du Lac area.  Tax deductible donations for the Lakeside Park Charitable Fund, the FDL City Parks Flower Fund, or any of our other 280 funds can be sent to the Fond du Lac Area Foundation at 384 N.
