Two New Members Elected To FDL City Council

The Fond du Lac City Council will be getting two new members. Voters Tuesday elected newcomers Ben Giles (pictured above) and Donna Richards to the Council and returned Karyn Merkel and Kay Miller to it. Incumbent Derek TerBeest was defeated. Merkel remembers her first term and says when you are a newcomer it takes time to adjust. She says, “It is going to be interesting for them to get up to speed quickly. I’m sure they will both do fine, but it takes a little while to get up to speed and start really feeling comfortable on the Council.” Giles got the most votes in the race 2.951 he attributes that to some of the young voters he talked to. He says, “The voters sent a clear message and they are ready for the next generation of young leaders to step into roles in our government and I’m excited to step into a role and try and make Fond du Lac a better community and build on some of our successes.” Kay Miller will be serving in her second term. She says, “I’m truly honored to serve the citizens of Fond du Lac for one more term. It truly was a close race and I congratulate all the winners and I look forward to serving in a new term.”
