Two People Injured In Apartment Fire

An apartment fire Wednesday evening in Fond du Lac sent two people to the hospital. Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was on the scene at 6:00 p.m. at Countryside West Apartments at 869 Security Drive for a reported apartment building fire.

The 2nd floor fire caused significant damage to one of the units, but fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it caused any damage to the other 23 units.

The two residents who occupied the apartment where the fire occurred suffered smoke inhalation and were treated by FDLFR paramedics and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, but there were no other injures reported.  The fire appears to have been started by grease flare up.

The apartment complex’s management staff was on scene to assist housing the displaced residents until it was safe for them to return, and the Red Cross was contacted in the event housing assistance is needed for the residents.

FDLFR was assisted by FDLPD which provided traffic and scene control as well as Fire departments from North FDL, Lamartine, Ripon and Town of FDL.
