Two People Safely Pulled From Fire, House Is A Total Loss

An alert Deputy pulled two people from a house fire to safety Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred just before 1:45 p.m. Friday, with a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy passing a residence on Hwy. 26 in the Town of Waupun.

The deputy observed smoke and flames exiting the rear of the structure, and then saw two occupants inside and unable to exit safely. The deputy broke through a window and removed a 66-year old male and his 31-year old son, both of whom reside at the residence.

Early investigation shows a lawn mower parked near the house caught fire and quickly spread to the home and the attached garage. The house is considered a total loss. The 66-year old sustained minor injuries and was treated and released.

At least 12 area fire departments assisted at the scene as well as Lifestar Ambulance, Alliant Energy and the FDL County Highway Department.
