Two Pets Perish In Fond du Lac Fire

A Saturday evening fire in Fond du Lac caused extensive damage to part of home, and took the lives of two family pets.

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was called out Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 6:14pm to the 200 block of Gillett St. for a reported house on fire.

Personnel arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the windows and eaves of the home.

The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control but not before extensive damage had occurred to the kitchen area.  Two pets were removed from the structure and fire personnel unfortunately were unable to revive them.  The humane society was called to offer support to the family and their pets.  The Red Cross was also notified and arrived on scene, and is working with the family with their immediate needs.

Alliant energy was also called to disconnect gas and electric service.

The Fond du Lac Police department was also on site managing traffic control.

The cause and location of the fire is unknown at this time, and remains under investigation.
