Female Suspect Leads Police On Chase, Arrested Following Standoff

KFIZ News Breaking News Editor Doug Raflik was on the scene Sunday morning(3/27/2022) of a standoff involving the Fond du Lac PD, the FDL County Sheriff’s Department, and a female suspect that led authorities on a 7 mile high-speed chase through the city.

The female suspect lead Officers through the city, just before 7:00 a.m., before exiting the vehicle in the 100 block of Schubert Lane, a dead-end road near Fondy High School.

The suspect, a 39-year old female from Ripon, was observed driving recklessly near Martin Avenue and E. Pioneer Road. As the Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop the vehicle attempted to intentionally ram the squad car. The vehicle pursuit reached speeds of approximately 40MPH traveling through several residential areas in the southeast and northeast portions of the City. The female suspect fled on foot, while a passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody.

The female escaped into an open garage door, and entered a home that was at the time occupied by 88-year old female, whose husband had just left moments before.

The Wisconsin State Patrol joined the Fond du Lac PD and the Sheriff’s Department on the scene at Schubert Lane, surrounding the residence, with long guns drawn. The area around the home had the look of small-town living, with nearly a dozen of bird feeders scattered around the property, which was in stark contrast to the number of law enforcement vehicles in the area, and the amount of guns focused on the property.

FDLPD Detective Vance Henning was able to establish contact on the phone and through negotiations convinced the suspect to surrender without incident at approximately 8:19AM.

Residents in the area, who were not home at the time, were asked to stay away from the area. Residents who were in their homes at the time, were asked to shelter in place.

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue.
