Two-Vehicle Crash Takes The Life Of One In Green Lake County

A fatal crash in Green Lake County remains under investigation.

The crash occurred Friday, May 6, 2022 just before 3:05 p.m., with 911 calls coming into the County Communications Center regarding a motor vehicle crash on CTH Q, south of CTH X in the Town of Mackford.

The callers indicated that the crash was head on crash, and involved a car and a semi.

Emergency Response units arrived on the scene and determined that there were in fact 2 vehicles involved, with 1 occupant in the car deceased.  

Preliminary investigation showed a green sedan was traveling north on CTH Q, while the tractor trailer was traveling south on CTH Q.  The sedan suddenly entered the southbound lane and struck the tractor trailer head on.  

The operator of the sedan (a 41yr old male) was pronounced dead at the scene.  The tractor trailer operator (a 37yr old male) was transported to Waupun Hospital for minor injuries.  

The area remained closed to traffic for nearly 6 hours.

Assistance was provided by Grand River Fire Department, Markesan Police Department, Markesan Emergency Government, and the Green Lake County Highway Department.

The crash is being investigated by the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Patrol and is ongoing.
