Update: Fatal Head-On Collision

 

(12:15 p.m. 8/14/13):A 51-year-old Plymouth woman is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a charge of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle after causing a fatal accident on Highway 23 east of Fond du Lac Wednesday morning. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says the woman was heading west and pulled out and passed a number of cars east of Seven Hills Road. A 53-year-old Fond du Lac woman who was heading east had to swerve onto the shoulder of the road to avoid her and lost control. As a result she crossed over the centerline and hit a car driven by a 41-year-old St. Cloud man. The woman wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her vehicle. She died at the scene.The St. Cloud man, Mark Feldner, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Plymouth woman was pulled over on Highway 151 near Wonser Road down near Waupun. The woman had just moved to Plymouth from Texas and was on her way to work in Beaver Dam. (10 a.m. 8/14/13): A 53-year-old woman was killed in a two-car head-on collision on Highway 23 east of Fond du Lac this morning. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says a 51-year-old woman was heading west on Highway 23 and pulled out and passed a number of cars west of County Highway W and east of Seven Hills Road. A 53-year-old woman driving east on Highway 23 had to pull onto the shoulder to avoid a collision, which caused her to lose control of her car. Her vehicle then crossed over the centerline and hit a car driven by a 41-year-old St. Cloud man. The woman was killed in the crash, but the St. Cloud man wasn’t injured. The woman whose erratic driving caused the accident was pulled over by the State Patrol and Sheriff’s deputies on Highway 151 near Wonser Road near Waupun. Captain Olig says the woman was taken to the Sheriff’s Department for questioning. He says witnesses report she was passing vehicles both before and after the fatal accident. The accident was reported at 5:31 a.m. 

 

Update: (7:00 a.m.8/14/13):

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a two-car head on collision that occurred at Highway 23 and Seven Hills Road east of Fond du Lac shortly after 5:30 this morning. One person was seriously injured and Sheriff’s deputies and the State Patrol were looking for a car that may have caused the accident. The State Patrol reports lanes were blocked in both directions. They suggest that west bound traffic go south on County Highway W, west on 4th Street Road, north on County Highway UU back to Highway 23 and eastbound traffic should reverse those directions if they are heading east.

Fond du Lac County authorities are investigating a two-car head on collision that occurred at Highway 23 and Seven Hills Road east of Fond du Lac shortly after 5:30 this morning. One person was seriously injured and Sheriff’s deputies and the State Patrol were looking for a car that may have caused the accident. A detour is set up for traffic to get around the accident. The road is closed westbound from County Highway W.
