Use Extension Cords Sparingly

The Division Chief of Fire Prevention for Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue says people don’t realize that extension cords aren’t meant for permanent use. He says they are made for temporary use to start tools or something along those lines. Troy Haase also says extension cords shouldn’t be run through windows, under doors or through a route that will result in pinch points in the cord. He says pinch points cause heat in the cord, which can result in fire. He also recommends against plugging extension cords into electrical strips.
