UW-Oshkosh Investigating Racist Images Shared on Social Media

Campus officials at UW-Oshkosh are investigating images
posted on social media Thursday night that depict “racist messages and hateful
symbols”. Chancellor Andrew Leavitt said in a letter this (Friday) morning that
they were made aware of the images that appear to involve UW-Oshkosh students overnight
– and they began investigating immediately. “I am angry, and I am sorry for the
pain these images cause,” he wrote. “They are examples of hate and bias that defy
everything we stand for as a university and inclusive community. We do not and
will not tolerate it.” Leavitt opened the letter by saying, “To anyone who
brings hate into the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Community, I invite you to
leave.” An open forum was held on campus this afternoon to talk more about the
offensive posts.
