Vaccinations Up, Positive COVID Tests Down In WI

Another COVID-19 daily record was set in Wisconsin on Saturday. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) said Saturday 18,607 people have completed the COVID-19 vaccine series within the past 24 hours, which broke Friday’s record. A total of 232,178 people in the state have completed the series.

It is expected that Wisconsin will top the 1 million doses administered within the week. DHS says there have been a total of 940,205 doses given over the past two months.

The good news on total doses comes as confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the state continue to decrease. The percentage of positive cases continued to drop on Saturday, with 16.7% of the more than 4,500 tests reported as positive, for a total of 752 positive tests. There have also been eight days in February where Wisconsin has reported fewer than 1,000 new cases in a single day.

The 7-day average fell to 806, the lowest 7-day average since early September. The positivity rate also continues to fall, to 3.4% as of Friday.
