Vehicle Hits Light Pole And Hydrant, Driver Flees Scene

Fond du Lac PD made quick work of finding a male driver who fled the scene of an early morning accident. The driver of a vehicle took out a light pole and a fire hydrant in the 300 block of S. Main St. in Fond du Lac near Domino’s just before 1:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

Video footage of the accident obtained by officers shows the vehicle slowly drift from the northbound lane of Main. St and strike the light pole and the hydrant. A 21-year old male is seen exiting the driver’s seat while a 22-year old male is seen getting out on the passenger’s side. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot but was located by police a few blocks away near 45 S. Main St. and arrested for OWI. He was also issued cites of OWI, OAR, Failure to maintain control of a vehicle and leaving the scene.

Police logs show no injuries reported, but the vehicle was towed from the scene. City of Fond du Lac crews will be working to replace the light pole and fire hydrant damaged in the accident.
