Voters Head To Polls In Primary Election

Polls will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM today for the partisan primary election, which includes races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general as well as other state and local races.

In Fond du Lac County, State races on the ballot are Governor where current Governor Tony Evers is running unopposed on the Democrat side while a tight competition is under way for the Republicans between Former Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, local business leader Tim Michels, Timothy Ramthun and Adam Fischer. Kevin Nicholson is on the ballot, but he has dropped out of the race.

The race for Lieutenant Governor is packed with eight candidates on the Republican side with Peng Her and Sara Rodriguez rounding out the Democrats.

Attorney General has Josh Kaul being the lone Democrat with Fond du Lac’s District Attorney Eric Toney going up against Karen Muller and Adam Jarchow for the Republicans.

A state senator position is up for grabs with Republican incumbent Ron Johnson going up against David Schroeder, with eight democrats tossing their hat in the race.

Other state races are Secretary Of State and State Treasurer.

The big local race will be for Representative To The Assembly District 52 where four Republicans and one democrat are vying for the recently exited position of Jeremy Thiesfeldt.

On the Republican side of the battle for district six congress representative, Douglas Mullenix goes up against incumbent Glenn Grothman. The winner will go into the general election unopposed on the democratic side.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt is running unopposed to be re-elected to that position.

Rounding out the ballot will be Fond du Lac County Clerk of Courts Republican Ramona Geib running un-opposed for her position.

Winners in the primary election go on the ballot for the general election which will take place November 8.
