Waldschmidt Says Department Is “Cutting Edge” When It Comes To Policies

The Wisconsin State Senate has passed a package of bills addressing police reform. Last week, the senate approved measures that would require police to post use-of-force policies online, and require police to maintain and share personnel files during the hiring process, among other items.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt tells KFIZ News that revising or changing policies over time to meet the standards for law enforcement is nothing new to his department.

“I’m proud to say that we’re always trying to be on the cutting edge, we’re always evaluating our policies and revamping them and adjusting them and adapting them to the times. We took a look at those mandates for the state law enforcement agencies and we complied already and had been compliant for a long time with all of them.”

Waldschmidt says people can find the department’s policies on Use of Force and Body Cameras on the sheriff’s website – fdlsheriff.com
