Waupun Correctional Locked Down Monday

An inmate assault on a nurse at the Waupun Correctional Institution Monday forced the prison to enact a lockdown.

John Beard, Director of Communications in the Office of Public Affairs for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, told KFIZ News “movement has been limited at Waupun Correctional Institution after a staff member was assaulted. The staff member has been treated at a local hospital and released. Movement is being limited while the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office investigates.”

KFIZ News was also told the assault on the nurse took place in the Health Services Unit, and that it took numerous other WCI personnel to stop the assault. The location and total number of staff needed to halt the assault have not been confirmed as of Tuesday morning.
