Cell Hall To Close At Waupun Correctional

It’s a move that is expected to reduce the population at Waupun Correctional by almost 20%. Wisconsin Department of Corrections says they will close a cell hall, resulting in over 200 inmates, classified as medium-security, being relocated from the maximum security prison to other medium-security prisons across the state. Those moves have already started and should finish up by the end of February. The transfer should assist in minimizing staffing challenges at Waupun Correctional. The reduction in inmates will also assist in a reduction of direct staffed posts by eight per-day, and eliminate certain positions needed for the cell hall.
