Waupun Fire Department Receives Three Grants

The Waupun Fire Department is the beneficiary of three grants totaling nearly $13,000. Fire Chief B. J. DeMaa says one of them is through the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation for $3,855. He says it will allow them to replace three AEDs or automated external defibrillators that have reached their end of life dates. Walmart Community Grant Program awarded the department a $2,000 grant to purchase 48 smoke and CO detectors. DeMaa says coupled with a donation of 30 smoke detectors from Kidde they will be giving out nearly 80 detectors to people who need them. He says they will partner with the senior center and others to determine who the detectors will go to. A third grant of $7,000 from Firefighter Support Foundation will allow them to purchase a fire extinguisher training system. DeMaa says since 2003 the Waupun Fire Department has received more than $302,000 in grants.
