Waupun, Laconia Battle for Girls Titles; Campbellsport Still Alive in Guys

Waupun will be looking for their 2nd straight gold ball after advancing to the final 4 with a victory over Prairie du Chien, 50-40. In the reseeding, Waupun (21-7) earned the top seed in Division 3 and will play Milwaukee Academy of Science (22-3) the 4th seed. The game is set for 1:35 on Thursday in Green Bay. The winner advances to the title game to be played on Saturday afternoon.

Like Waupun, Laconia is making back to back appearances to the Resch Center. They however settled for the silver ball last year. This year Laconia (25-3) grabbed the 2nd seed with a win over The Prairie School 71-59. The Spartans will be in action at roughly 8:15 on Thursday night against the 3rd seeded Colfax (21-6). Winner advances to Saturdays Division 4 title game.

In boys basketball, we’re still 4 games away from deciding state champions. Only one school from Fondy County still has a shot at a gold ball, and that’s Campbellsport in Division 3. Because of 2 upset wins over the weekend, the six seeded Cougars (20-6) have a Sectional Semifinal contest in Denmark against Brillion (25-1). That game will be played Thursday night at 7.
