Waupun Residents Can Now Get Alerts Via Text

The City of Waupun has partnered with Nixle to implement a Community Notification System to alert residents in real-time of localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories. Nixle sends residents localized, relevant alerts to their mobile device via text, email, web, social media, and the Nixle Mobile app.

Waupun residents have two simple ways to register for alerts:

1.) Text WAUPUN to 888777 from your mobile phone

2.) Go to https://www.cityofwaupun.org/fire-emergencymanagement/page/emergency-alerts and sign up via the Nixle Widget.

“With tornado and severe weather awareness week upon us, it is critical that residents receive information needed to ensure public safety,” stated Emergency Management Director B.J. DeMaa.  “In the event of an emergency, siren alerts will continue to be a primary way to mass alert the general public of imminent danger.  However, with Nixle Alert, registered users will receive a real-time message to their mobile device with further details about the threat that a siren simply cannot provide. Nixle integrates well with our existing social media platforms and will play an important role in the future, allowing us to push time-sensitive information to those who have signed up for the service,” he added.

City of Waupun residents are encouraged to register immediately for this service using the methods listed above.
