Waupun Teen Suffers Serious Injuries In Oakfield Ledge Fall

A Waupun teen was airlifted to the hospital following a fall late Friday night.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was notified Friday, June 3rd, 2022, just before 11:45pm, of a male subject who had fallen from the Oakfield Ledge near the intersection of Breakneck Rd and Center Line Rd.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oakfield Fire & First Responders located the teen at the base of the ledge with serious injuries. The patient was identified as a 17 year-old male from the Waupun area.

Witnesses with the patient observed him walk to the edge of the ledge, and lose his footing. The male fell approximately 15 feet down the ledge. Witnesses with the patient claimed he had been consuming alcohol prior to falling from the ledge.

The steep and uneven terrain complicated rescue efforts, and Fond du Lac City Fire/Rescue’s Technical Rescue team was utilized to rescue the patient. The male was transported by ThedaStar Helicopter to Theda Care Regional Medic Clinic – Neenah with serious injuries.

Additional agencies assisting at the scene were The Wisconsin State Patrol, Lifestar EMS, and Fond du Lac City Fire/Rescue.
