Wausau City Employees Could See $2,000 Incentive

Wausau city employees could soon be eligible for a two thousand dollar incentive — if they provide six month’s notice of their retirement.

Finance Committee chair Lisa Rasmussen says the idea originated as a proposal from the Police Department, which is looking to control overtime costs.

“There’s also value to be had when there’s the benefit of a lengthy advance notice time to train new people time for outgoing people to work with new people.”

The city’s Human Resources office will need to draft a memo of understanding for the city’s three unions, which would also make them eligible. That item is on hold and could be brought up during the next round of negotiations.
