Weak Tornado Did Hit FDL County

Fond du Lac County Communications and Emergency Management Director Bobbi Hicken says there was a tornado in the County Monday night. She says County Emergency Management staff met with National Weather Service officials and the Town of Osceola Management Director Tuesday afternoon. It was determined that an EF-0 tornado hit the Town Monday night. The twister with speeds of 80 miles an hour hit an area about 5 miles from Campbellsport. National Weather Service officials say numerous people spotted a waterspout near Kettle Moraine Lake. Hicken says even though there was no official tornado warning they did use tornado sirens that evening to alert residents to the danger the strong winds presented. She says those sirens are actually meant to be used as an alerting system and not necessarily just for tornado warnings.

Most of the damage was done along a straight line that extended from the Green Lake County line to the Sheboygan County line and was 3 to 5 miles wide. (National Weather Service Graphic)
