West Nile Virus In FDL County

Fond du Lac and Oconto Counties are the first in Wisconsin this year to have confirmed human cases of West Nile virus. State Health officials say the chances of a person contracting West Nile virus are very low and most people affected by the virus will not have symptoms. Those who do become ill may develop a fever, headache, and rash that lasts a few days. Symptoms may begin between three to 15 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito.
